Airport Taxi Links: a booking site built around fixed prices
Airport Taxi Links run airport transfers out of Slough, fifteen minutes from Heathrow and covering every UK airport from there. The brief was a booking site that makes the price obvious and the booking easy, because that is the whole battle in airport transfers.
The problem with booking a transfer
Anybody who has booked one knows the pattern. You get a price, then a surcharge for the terminal, then something for waiting time, then a card fee, and the number you end up paying has very little to do with the number that made you click. By the time you notice, you have already filled in four screens.
So the site leads with the opposite:
- A fixed price, quoted up front, with no surge pricing at any hour
- Flight monitoring built in, so a delayed landing is not treated as your fault
- Meet and greet included rather than sold as an upgrade
- Pay online or pay the driver, whichever suits
What we built
A Shopify build with a quote and booking flow at the front of it. Pick the airport, pick the direction, get a price. The [areas they cover](airporttaxilinks.co.uk/pages/areas-we-cover) are set out properly, with distances, rather than a vague claim to serve the whole country.
There is a travel guides section too, which exists for a practical reason as much as an editorial one. People search for how long before a flight they should leave, or which terminal an airline uses, long before they search for a taxi firm. Being useful at that moment is how you get considered at the next one.
What it should do
Airport transfers are an unusual local search. Half the customers are not local at all, they are flying in and booking from somewhere else entirely, so the usual rules about proximity matter less than they do for most businesses. What matters more is being clear, being quick to book, and being visible for the specific airport and the specific area.
The site is built for that, and the local side is being tracked and worked on from here with the same weekly measurement we use everywhere else.
