People choosing a caterer, a wedding supplier or a café are buying with their eyes first. They want to see the food, picture it at their event and feel sure you can handle their date. Then they want to ask a question without filling in a long form. We are Ecomm Development, a small Shopify and Orbit Commerce studio in Kingsley, Northampton, and we build and improve websites for caterers, event suppliers and food businesses.
How people choose a caterer or event supplier
A couple planning a wedding, or someone organising a party or work event, will usually shortlist several suppliers and compare them. They search terms like "wedding caterer near me", "event catering Northampton" or "buffet catering for a party", and come back to the sites that looked good and answered their questions. Your website has to make that shortlist and stay on it.
What a catering or events website needs
A proper gallery
Good photos of your food, your setups and real events matter more than any other part of the site. We organise galleries by type of event, so a couple can go straight to weddings and a company can go straight to corporate lunches. Each image gets alt text, which helps it appear in Google image results.
Menus people can read on a phone
Menus are often uploaded as a PDF that is hard to read on a phone and invisible to Google. We put your menus and sample packages on proper pages, with a starting price per head where you are happy to share one. Dietary options such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free are easy to find.
An enquiry form built around the date
The first thing you need to know is whether you are free. We build enquiry forms that ask for the event date, type of event, rough guest numbers, venue or postcode and any dietary needs. You get what you need to reply with availability and a price.
Reviews and real events
Wedding and event customers rely heavily on what other customers say. We link to your Google reviews and can feature short write-ups of real events you have catered, with photos and the venue named where the client is happy for you to do so.
For cafés and food shops
A café needs opening hours, location, a current menu and up-to-date photos front and centre, plus a Google Business Profile that matches. If you sell food, gifts or vouchers online, Shopify can handle orders and collection.

Shopify or Orbit Commerce?
We are a Shopify Partner and an Orbit Commerce Partner. Caterers and event suppliers who mainly take enquiries usually suit Orbit Commerce, with galleries, menus and enquiry forms. Food businesses selling products, hampers or vouchers online usually suit Shopify. If your current site needs a fresh start, see our website redesign page.

Frequently asked questions
Can the enquiry form ask for the event date and guest numbers?
Yes. We build enquiry forms around the details you need to reply, such as the event date, type of event, rough guest numbers, venue or postcode and dietary needs.
Should my menus be PDFs or web pages?
Web pages are usually better. They are easier to read on a phone and Google can read them, which helps you appear for searches. You can still offer a PDF to download alongside.
I already have a website. Can you just help it get found?
Yes. For Kitchen 94 in London we worked on SEO for their existing Shopify site, planning content from real search data and setting up local search. Local SEO starts from £70 a month with no contract.
How much does a website for a caterer cost?
Websites are from £250 one-off, with tiers at £250, £495 and £795. You own the finished site, and you see a free homepage preview before you pay anything.
