If you run a taxi firm, a repair service, a cleaning company or any mobile business that goes out to customers, your website has one job: turn a visitor into a booking, a quote or a call-out while they are still on the page. If your site makes them wait, they go back to Google and try someone else. We are Ecomm Development, a small Shopify and Orbit Commerce studio in Kingsley, Northampton, and we build booking-led websites for service businesses.
What a service business website needs
A price or a quote, straight away
The first question most customers have is "how much?". If your prices are fixed, show them. If they depend on the job, give a starting price and a short quote form, or an instant quote tool that works out a price from a few answers.
Clear service options
Three clear choices are easier to pick from than a long list. A cleaner might offer a regular clean, a deep clean and an end of tenancy clean. A repair business might offer a check, a standard repair and a full service. Each option gets a short description of what is included and what it costs, with a button to book it.
Online booking
Let customers pick a date and time, enter their details and confirm, without waiting for a call back. The booking comes to you straight away, and the customer gets a confirmation email so they know it went through.
Reminders before the appointment
A reminder email before the booking cuts down on no-shows and "I forgot you were coming" doorstep conversations.
Area pages
Mobile and call-out businesses cover lots of places. A useful page for each town or route you serve, with the details that matter there, helps customers in that area trust that you really do come to them, and gives Google a page to show for searches in that place.
Call and WhatsApp buttons
Some customers will always prefer to talk. A tap-to-call button and a WhatsApp button that work properly on a phone take care of them.
Case study: Airport Taxi Links
Airport Taxi Links runs airport transfers from Slough. Their site gives customers an instant fixed-price quote, lets them book online, and sends reminder emails before pickup. We also wrote 17 Gatwick route pages, each covering a specific journey, plus a hub page linking them together. Read the Airport Taxi Links case study.
Case study: Volt & Spoke
Volt & Spoke is a mobile bike repair business in Glasgow. We built a booking-led site around three clear service tiers, added area pages for the places they cover, and track their Google Maps ranking every week. We wrote up how we built Volt & Spoke to be found locally.
Bookings for shops too
Booking is useful well beyond appointments. For Rock Bottom Fireworks we built a WordPress and WooCommerce reserve-and-collect shop where customers choose a collection day and time, age checks are built in, stock comes live from the shop's till, and orders go straight to staff. See the Rock Bottom Fireworks case study.
Getting found once the site is live
For most service businesses, Google Maps brings in more calls than the website on its own. Our local SEO service manages your Google Business Profile and checks your Maps position every week, and our Google Ads management can fill the diary while that builds. To see where you show up now, ask for a free Google Maps ranking report.
What it costs
Websites start from £250 one-off, with tiers at £250, £495 and £795. You own the site once it is built. Before you pay anything, we build a free preview of your homepage.
Local SEO and social management starts from £70 a month with no contract: your Google Business Profile managed, weekly Google Maps rank scans across your area, and posts to your website, Google and Facebook. See the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Can customers get a price and book without calling me?
Yes. We can show fixed prices, add an instant quote tool, or use a short quote form, and add online booking so customers can choose a date and time and get a confirmation email.
Can the website send booking reminders?
Yes. We can set up reminder emails before an appointment or pickup, as we did for Airport Taxi Links, which helps cut down on missed bookings.
I cover lots of towns. Do I need a page for each one?
A page for each town or route you genuinely serve helps customers there trust that you come to them, and gives Google a page to show for searches in that area. We write each one properly.
